A dairy farm assistant is required for the day to day running of our 300 cow farm which is located 5 minutes from Dargaville. Cows are milked through a new 27 ASHB cowshed. We run a grass based system with grass silage, hay and PKE. Farm assistant is required to help with milking of cows, stock work, calf rearing, general farm maintenance, feeding cows and the making of silage and hay. AG ITO training is welcomed. The position comes with a spacious 3/4 bedroomed house that has a school bus go past the gate to both primary and seconday schools.

The farm is 148 eff. ha on Otorohanga town boundary. The shed is a 40 bale internal rotary with ACR's, protrack, yard wash, automatic plant wash etc. We run a mainly grass system (system 2) only using supplement to fill in defects during spring and autumn. We milk 460 cows, calving from 20/7/2010. We are 15% ahead STD and have reached last years production last week. There is a 3 bedroom cottage available for the herd manager, heating is by way of heat pump, there is no fire, it has a double garage. We require someone who is forward thinking, able to work unsupervised, able to take charge(with relief staff) so that we can take weekends and holidays.
