Fonterra’s Western Star salted butter has been selected as a finalist in the butter category of the 2017 Australian Grand Dairy Award, and is the running to be named Champion butter.
As Australia’s favourite butter, Western Star is Australia’s number one selling butter and has won multiple industry awards over the years.
Fonterra Regional Manager – West, Andrew Nooy said to be a finalist in this award emphasises the quality of Fonterra’s dairy foods made at our Cobden site, Fonterra’s largest operation in Australia.
“Cobden is the home of Western Star, and we are very proud to be recognised for Western Star. This is one of our industry’s most prestigious and highly regarded awards, and recognises quality and excellence in Australia’s dairy industry,” he said.
“Western Star has been a family favourite for generations, and to maintain that reputation comes down to our high-quality standards, on-going innovation and the superior cream from our farmers.
“Western Star is made with only three natural ingredients, and it’s this simplicity that makes it a winner.
As the success of Western Star continues to spread, the Cobden plant has needed to invest $6.2 million into expanding its coolroom to keep up with its growing demand. The expansion is well underway, with the concrete floor poured. The capital works will see over 25 contractors on site for the duration of the expansion project.
“The winner is announced in February 2017, and we can’t wait to find out whether we actually win the Award, although I am still very proud to know we are in the top three,” said Andrew.
