New Zealand dairy co-operative Fonterra and local food company Sakr Group have teamed up to launch Anchor butter in hypermarkets and grocery stores in the Egyptian market.
Fonterra Regional Director Ingredients Europe, Middle East and Africa, Hans Huistra, said the launch will help to meet Egyptians growing demand for high quality dairy products.
“Egyptians love New Zealand butter. We sell substantial quantities in bulk formats to Egyptian food companies and we are excited to extend this into a more premium consumer format with Anchor.”
Anchor butter is produced by Fonterra, using the goodness of New Zealand milk.
“Fonterra has been selling high quality dairy products in the country for over 20 years and the launch of Anchor in Egypt is a key milestone for the dairy co-operative.
“This is an exciting step for our business and we’re pleased to be able to bring our high quality Anchor butter to Egyptian consumers,” Mr Huistra said.
Ahmed Sakr, CEO of Sakr Group, said the company has had a long standing relationship with Fonterra and has been the exclusive distributor of Fonterra bulk butter for 27 years.
“Anchor products are consumed by millions of families all over the world every day and we’re really excited to be working with Fonterra to bring this great brand to Egypt.
“Anchor butter is 100 per cent pure butter, it has a distinctive flavour and colour which makes it great to cook with, and a higher melting point which means it stores well.”
The launch event in Cairo was attended by Egyptian government ministers, NZ embassy officials, Foodservice industry professionals, and local customers.
