Fonterra Waitoa leads New Zealand's key decarbonization project, installing a 30MW biomass boiler to replace coal by 2037. This reduces annual emissions by 48,000 tonnes of CO2e, equivalent to removing 20,000 cars from New Zealand's roads.
The Whakatere Programme, a 10-day initiative, shapes the next generation of Maintenance Managers, tackling challenges of retention and talent development. Participants acquire essential skills, building a valuable industry network for success in this demanding role.
As a Fonterra engineer, join our Chartered Professional Engineering pathway/pilot program, aligned with Engineering NZ. Gain skills for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), New Zealand's top engineering qualification. Elevate your professional journey with us.
We are taking a significant stride towards sustainability by unveiling plans to install a 20-megawatt electrode boiler at its Edendale site in Southland.
Our Co-operative advances its decarbonisation efforts, revealing plans to transition the Hautapu site from coal to wood pellets and install a heat pump at its Palmerston North milk processing facility, supported by the Government Investment in Decarbonising Industry (GIDI) Process Heat Contestable Fund.
Fonterra achieves a milestone by commissioning its inaugural high-temperature heat pump and solar thermal plant combination at the Hawera, Taranaki manufacturing site, a key producer of fresh white milk for the North Island.
The Hautapu site, focusing on the production of high-value items such as casein, lactoferrin, hydrolysates, and whey protein concentrate, boasts a workforce of approximately 300 individuals and actively engages with the local community through various sponsorship initiatives.
