Our Kauri site was established in 1989 and is Fonterra’s northernmost site. The site produces a range of milk powders, butters, AMF and a range of speciality products. Kauri’s Skim Milk Powder evaporator remains the largest single stage evaporator in NZ!

Fonterra’s Te Awamutu site has both a long established powder plants and butter and AMF plant.

Whareroa is one of our largest sites. Along with a 7-hectare distribution centre and 1000 employees, our site boasts a total of 11 plants which includes four milk powder plants, two cheese plants, a cream plant, an anhydrous milk fat plant plus a whey protein and casein plant. Our Lichfield site sits in the heart of the Waikato, manufacturing a range of products including whole milk powder, whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate used in medical and nutritional products as well as a range of award winning cheeses exported internationally to a global market!

Our Tirau site produces casein, lactalbumin and Lactose used in both food and industrial applications for export to international markets. Casein and lactalbumin are typically used for infant formula and sports nutrition. This is one of our smaller sites.

Based in the heart of the Waikato, our Morrinsville plant manufactures a range milk powders and butter products that are exported to more than 35 markets around the world. During peak milking season, our Morrinsville site processes up to 1.2 million litres of milk every day.

Canpac is a unique site within the New Zealand footprint, blending and packing premium paediatrics and dairy nutrition products for our global consumer base.

The Te Rapa milk factory processes up to 10 million litres of milk per day into powders, cream cheese, butter and AMF.

Located in the heart of the Waikato, Fonterra’s Waitoa site is a long-established powder plant with cutting edge technology.

Our Hautapu site is in the heart of the Waikato and has been a leader in dairy manufacturing for more than 130 years. It’s our headquarters for our protein and cheese technical teams and specialises in producing high value products such as casein, whey protein concentrate, hydrolysate, lactoferrin and milk protein concentrate as well as a wide range of cheeses including Organic, Colby, Edam, Gouda, Noble and Egmont.

Established in 1985, Collingwood Street in Eltham is home to the largest consumer and foodservice manufacturing plant in the Asia/Pacific region. Our Slice on Slice plant produces enough cheese for 3 billion cheese burgers each year!

Established in 1968 and located in the heart of the Waikato’s dairying region, our Reporoa site has grown its capability to process 2.5 million litres of milk per day. Read more. 

Servicing the Bay of Plenty, our Edgecumbe site has been manufacturing dairy products since 1923. The site produces pastry sheet butter, prepared edible fats, anhydrous milk fat, casein & caseinates, whey protein concentrate, milk minerals, ethanol & lipids. Read more.

Established in 1976, our Pahiatua site specialises in producing whole milk powder that is exported to markets around the world. The latest expansion in 2015 saw the site add a new 15 metric tonne dryer, as well as a new waste water treatment plant. Our site has the lowest water to milk ratio of any site in the country. Originally built in 1902 as a creamery, our Takaka site manufacture award winning butter for export. The site is dedicated to processing South Island milk into skim milk powder for the export market and all product moves to Cold Storage Nelson, before being exported via Port Nelson.

Established in 2006, our Studholme site specialises in producing milk powders, including standard and high heat whole milk powders, buttermilk powder and whey protein concentrate powder. It employs more than 44 people and all its final product is exported to the world via the port of Timaru.

Our Clandeboye site is one of Fonterra’s largest sites, employing over 1000 people. It is also home to one of the biggest dryers in the world, capable of producing 28 metric tonnes of whole milk powder every hour. During peak season our Clandeboye site processes up to 13 million litres of milk every day.

Established in 2012, our Darfield site has won multiple awards and has three production plants - two milk powder plants including a world’s largest spray drier producing 33 metric tonnes per hour, and a newly operational cream cheese plant producing 4.5 metric tonne of cream cheese every hour. During peak season, we process up to 7.2 million litres of milk every day.

Established in 1881, our Edendale manufacturing site is New Zealand’s oldest dairy processing site and with 13 plants, we produce 14 million bags of milk powder each year for export and process up to 15 million litres of milk every day in peak season. Read more.

Established in 1982, Stirling site is Fonterra’s only manufacturing site in the Otago region. Specialising in Cheese, the site has picked up awards from both in New Zealand and internationally for their Cheddar and Colby. Stirling produces around 10,500 20kgs blocks of cheese everyday - that’s around 10 blocks per minute.
