On Thursday night, Fonterra celebrated the hard work of its New Zealand manufacturing sites and people at the Co-op’s annual Best Site Cup Awards.
The evening brought together nearly 200 site representatives to celebrate the hard mahi from the past season.
Sustainability winner and Greater China Star Cheese award: Clandeboye
Fonterra’s CEO of Greater China Teh-han Chow welcomed the crowd and highlighted the amazing role that the Co-op's New Zealand manufacturing team play in delivering high-quality and highly desired products to consumers and customers around the world.
Alan Van Der Nagel, Fonterra’s Director of New Zealand Manufacturing congratulated all the Co-op's manufacturing sites for their hard work throughout the year, particularly the overall site cup winners chosen not only on their performance over the last 12 months, but also for their commitment to people and site culture.
"Tonight's Best Site Cup Awards are all about celebrating the amazing work our teams do every day and everything we’ve achieved together. The awards show how dedicated everyone is to ongoing improvement, efficiency, and staying sustainable, and it’s fantastic to see our sites getting the recognition they deserve for all their hard work and commitment over the past year”.
Best Large Site Cup, Customer Cup, and Greater China Star Milk Powder: Darfield
Canterbury’s Darfield site took home three awards on the evening, including Best Large Site. Darfield was recognised for its high levels of productivity through the FY24 season, strong commitment to customers, and exceptional progress in the sustainability space, showcasing strong improvements particularly in energy and waste to landfill. They were also recognised for their customer service and high quality of product delivered to the Co-operative's Greater China market.

Best Medium Site and People Cup: Waitoa
Best Medium Site and People Cup: Waitoa
The Waitoa site took out two awards during the evening, including Best Medium Site. The site was recognised for its exceptional performance, unwavering commitment to its people – in a challenging year of change for the site, and focus on strengthening diversity with the development of future female leaders.
Best Small Site Cup: Tākaka
Little but leading powerhouse, Tākaka took out Best Small Site, as it proved to be a consistent performer throughout the year, while also driving key sustainability initiatives.
