Fonterra’s Louis Booth receives Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship
Congratulations to Louis Booth who is using his prestigious Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship to study at a leading international business school.
Last night at Government House in Wellington Fonterra’s Louis Booth officially received a Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship. The scholarship helps fund further study at the world’s leading business schools and is intended to improve New Zealand’s international competitiveness.
Booth, who has been based in Russia for the last two years, says he is incredibly humbled to receive such a prestigious award.
“Fonterra is a great company and offers awesome opportunities like this for its people. My goal is to learn new ways to grow volume and improve our performance in our Russian business, which will help support our ambitious FY18 targets for NZMP in Europe,” said Booth.
He intends to complete the INSEAD Transition to General Management course and obtain a Certificate of Global Management. As acting General Manager for the key Russian account Foodline, Fonterra’s partner in the region for the last 14 years, Booth wants to bring his new knowledge back into the business.
“I want bring the newest systems and business principals to the operations I am responsible for, and then share what works with the rest of the business. Sharing the knowledge will help us to grow our value and volume, and ultimately support our farmers which is what it’s all about,” said Louis.
Louis is a Palmy boy, born and bred, growing up there and attending Palmerston North Boys High School before going to study a Bachelor Technology at Massey University. He started with Fonterra on the Fonterra Graduate Technical Programme (FGTP) before going on to get his Masters in Dairy Science.
To be considered for the Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship, applicants must be a manager or executive at a New Zealand-based company that is taking products and services to the world, and must be nominated by the CEO, Board Chair, or other significant leader in the company.
There were a total of 14 recipients this year, from a range of companies and industries including software, IT, food and nutrition, infrastructure, banking, professional services, and health and safety.
